Brian grew up in rural Pennsylvania. After falling in love with ceramics in high school, he chose to pursue a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Ceramics, later receiving his Masters of Fine Arts in 2009.
During his time as a resident artist at The Clay Studio in Philadelphia, Brian came up with the idea for his signature drippy vases. After having been offered a commission to make bud vases for a 1960’s psychedelic-themed gala event to honour a local gallery owner, he started developing his signature glazes and loved the indulgent use of colour and texture. The response to that initial series was so positive that he kept working on them. In 2015, he decided to turn it into a full-time career.
Krista, Brian’s wife, joins him in the studio every Wednesday. Here, they bounce ideas off each other, testing and experimenting with new forms, prototypes and glazes.
